GREENSBORO COMMUNITY YMCA SWIMMING

StrokeView is a complete, compact, high quality underwater video recording package that assists swim coaches and swimmers in evaluating their strokes from different angles above and below the water. There is no other underwater recording system that offers such comprehensive coverage of a swimmer’s movements. Once recording sessions are completed, the GCY coaches will be able to provide immediate feedback to our swimmers on deck. In addition, each swim will be uploaded to the Strokeview website so that swimmers and coaches will be able to view their performance on line. This unique training tool will help GCY swimmers make the technique adjustments necessary in order to take their performance to the next level!

GCY produces 1st's at 20th Furniture City Invitational

This past weekend, 41 GCY swimmers traveled to Jamestown, NC to compete in the 20th Furniture City Invite. The weekend produced many best times and great swims. Here are just some of the highlights:

10 of our swimmers competed in a prelim/final format that saw A swimmers compete in morning preliminary sessions for the right to swim in finals sessions at night. Only the top 8 finishers in each 14 & under event were asked to return for finals. The top 16 finishers from the morning sessions competed in the 15 & over finals at night. Our finalists included Safiyyah Abdullah (2nd in the 11-12 200 breast, 3rd in the 11-12 50 breast, & 4th in the 11-12 100 breast), Isaac Klinger (1st in the 11-12 50 back, 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 fly, 100 back, 400 free, 100 free, 200 back, & 200 IM), and Stuart Moffitt (4th in the 11-12 100 breast & 50 free, 5th in the 11-12 200 breast, & 7th in the 11-12 50 breast). In addition to winnning all 9 of his events, Isaac set meet records in the 50 back, 400 IM, 200 fly, & 200 back. His 50 back time of 32.22 also qualified him for the YMCA Long Course National Championship meet.

Daly Brower also swam a Long Course Y Nats qualifying time in the 50 free.

There were multiple event winners in the afternoon sessions as well. Mitchel Cole won the 13-14 100 breast. Corbin Heist placed first in the 15 & over 100 breast, 400 IM, 200 breast, & 200 IM. Brea Richardson finished first in the 15 & over 50 free. And Sara Strickland won the 15 & over 200 free, 400 IM, 100 free, 200 back, & 200 IM.
